JENNIE, stepping further into her solo artistry, joins forces with Dominic Fike for “Love Hangover,” a sultry, genre-blending track that captures the emotional turmoil of an irresistible yet destructive romance. The song, released as the second single from her debut album Ruby, showcases JENNIE’s signature smoky vocals against a backdrop of hazy, nostalgic production. Dominic Fike’s inclusion adds a layer of contrast, embodying the push-and-pull dynamic of a love that’s impossible to quit.

Built on a hypnotic, mid-tempo groove, “Love Hangover” weaves elements of retro soul with contemporary pop sensibilities. The track draws inspiration from Diana Ross’s 1976 classic of the same name, but instead of disco euphoria, it leans into a late-night, intoxicated daze. The chorus—“We say it’s over / But I keep f***ing with you / And every time I do, I wake up with this love hangover”—perfectly encapsulates the cycle of emotional self-destruction. It’s both seductive and melancholic, making it impossible to listen to just once.

The music video, directed by Bradley & Pablo, adds a surrealist edge to the song’s theme. Shot in Mexico City, it follows JENNIE through a series of doomed love stories, each ending in an absurd but darkly comedic demise. Whether being devoured by a kaiju or choking on a martini olive, her repeated endings mirror the track’s underlying message—no matter how many times love crashes and burns, the pull is always too strong to resist.

JENNIE’s vocal performance is one of her most intriguing yet. Rather than relying on the powerful delivery heard in her BLACKPINK-era songs, she opts for a soft, almost whispered approach, adding to the song’s intoxicating, dreamlike feel. Dominic Fike’s laid-back yet emotionally charged verse complements her perfectly, making their chemistry feel both natural and unsettlingly real.

“Love Hangover” is more than just a late-night anthem—it’s an evocative, beautifully crafted descent into the chaos of modern love. With its haunting production and undeniably catchy hook, it cements JENNIE’s ability to navigate multiple sonic landscapes while still retaining the effortless cool that has made her a global star.
